New York Sketches

E.B. White wrote for The New Yorker for more than 50 years, and much of his finest work used the city as its subject. This collection gathers his more casual pieces, ranging from the nesting habits of pigeons to a calculator trade show on Eighth Avenue. Many were written for a laugh, but they are far from trivial. The book ↗ captures the culture of New York through the sum of these small operations, and suggests that the best way to understand a place is to observe what happens in its margins.
